Friday Night Spotlight

Boys 4x800m Relay (8:31 PM)

The meet heats up right away on Friday night with the boys 4x800m, featuring three national-caliber squads from North Carolina:

  • Weddington (NC) returns three of four from last year’s 7:42 squad, a time that ranked among the nation's best.

  • Marvin Ridge (NC) brings back all four legs from their 7:44 team, setting up a tight battle with their regional rivals.

  • Cuthbertson (NC) has four returners from a 7:53 team, including three sub-1:58 runners, giving them the firepower to upset the favorites.

Expect a tactical and fast race under the lights with national rankings on the line. It would not be at all surprising to see all three challenge the 7:50 barrier.

Saturday's Headliners

2:22 PM - Girls 100m Hurdles

Two of the nation’s top hurdlers collide in what could be one of the fastest races of the non-championship part of the outdoor season:

  • Kassidy Hopkins (Jr., Bullis, MD) clocked 13.37 at the Pepsi Florida Relays, good for US#5, and looks to lower that mark even further.

  • Madeline Cooper (Sr., Drew Charter, GA) enters with a US#10 time of 13.59, and a victory here could launch her into the top five nationally.

3:41 PM - Boys 4x200m Relay

The boys 4x200m will be a high-octane showcase of speed, which could see multiple teams dip under 1:25 and earn US-top five performances:

  • Cuthbertson (NC) was second at Texas Relays two weeks ago in 1:24.73, just fractions behind Servite (CA), who ranks US#3 in the event.

  • Mallard Creek (NC) finished fifth at the Florida Relays last weekend with a time of 1:25.69 and is primed to challenge for the win here.

A clean race could see both teams dip under 1:25.

4:42 PM - Girls 400m Dash

The girls 400m features two national stars in a coast-to-coast showdown and could very well produce multiple US-top five marks:

  • Elise Cooper (Sr., McDonogh, MD) won New Balance Nationals Indoor in the 200m in a US#1 time of 22.64. She challenges herself in the one-lap race this weekend and has to be seeking a big PR in the event.

  • Sophie Rambo (Jr., Grassfield, VA) ran 52.83 in 2024, placing her at US#8 last season and one of the true one-lap talents in the country.

  • Morgan Rothwell (Sr., Bullis, MD), a key leg on the US#1-ranked 4x400m, boasts a PR of 53.80 and is looking for a statement individual win.

5:05 PM - Boys 400m Dash

The boys 400m features one of the nation's most exciting young talents:

  • Cameron Homer (So., Bullis, MD) placed third at New Balance Nationals Indoor with a blazing 46.66, the US#6 time this indoor season. While his teammate Olympian Quincy Wilson receives most of the media focus, Homer has also shown to be a force in the 200m with a 21.34 indoor best (US#20), and is arguably the top sophomore sprinter in the country.

With powerhouse relays, sprint showdowns, and rising national stars, the 2024 All American Track Classic is set to deliver fireworks from start to finish. Be sure to tune in live on RunnerSpace+ and follow along for updates, splits, and must-see performances all weekend long.
